Flat Top Train Kiln Plans

$500.00

In all my years of kiln building and teaching, I have never seen any kiln plans quite so comprehensive. It is a pleasure to offer a real achievable journey in your ownership of a wonderful, workable trian kiln. These plans include

  • A complete shopping list for all bricks, and steel needed

  • Every layer of the kiln with each brick placement clear and easy to follow

    • A cut list for every layer

    • Clear color coding easily differentiates IFB, Super Duty and High Duty Brick

    • Clear dimensions

    • Photos from a kiln build using this design.

  • Two, one hour consultations with Simon levin to problem solve and ensure success.

The kiln deisgn is a variation of the Train kiln designed by John Neely. This type of wood kiln is meant to be easy to fire and gives anagama like firing effects in a much shorter firing time. The flat top innovation designed by Roman Sonyk is an easy to maintain solution for chamber access. Each unit is liftable by two people and does not require any mechanical hoists or expensive rigging. This exact kiln design has been tested and proven effective. The design is:

  • Easy to build wth no complex arches or arch forms necessary

  • Easy to maintain, with worn parts replaceable without much fuss.

  • All cut bricks are simple straight cuts, and maximized for as little waist as possible.

  • Easy to fire

Additionally I will include a 3-D printed model with all the features and removeable lids. A great teaching tool for bringing you process to life at pottery sales.
